Information We Collect
To provide the app's school-community features, we collect:
- Account information — name, email address, phone number (if provided), profile photo, role (e.g. parent, student, teacher, admin, relative), and school affiliation.
- Content you create — posts, comments, and messages shared within the app.
- Family relationships — links between a parent/guardian account and their student(s), used to power family-facing features like student activity updates.
- Notification preferences — which notification types you've opted into, by channel (push, SMS, email).
- Technical information — device push/notification identifiers (to deliver notifications) and crash diagnostics (to identify and fix bugs).
How We Use Information
- Operate your account and sign you in.
- Connect families with school news, faith content, and student activity relevant to them.
- Deliver the notifications you've opted into, by the channel you chose.
- Respond to support requests sent to us.
- Diagnose and fix crashes and technical problems.
- Maintain a safe school community, including moderating posted content.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell personal information.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on a small number of service providers to operate, each limited to the purpose below:
- Supabase — hosts the app's database and backend.
- OneSignal — delivers push, SMS, and email notifications.
- Resend — sends account emails such as password resets.
- Google, Apple, or Facebook — only if you choose to sign in with one of these, per that provider's own terms.
- Firebase Crashlytics — collects crash diagnostics to help us fix bugs.
Giving & Donations
Donation links in the app take you to the school's own giving platforms (such as PayPal, CashApp, or Venmo) outside the app. The HVCA App itself does not process, transmit, or store any payment or card information.
Children's Privacy
HVCA App serves a K-12 school community, so some users are minors. Student accounts and the information associated with them are managed by the school and, where applicable, a parent or guardian account. We collect only what's needed to provide the app's school-community features and do not use student information for advertising or share it outside the purposes described here.
Data Retention & Deletion
You can request account deletion from within the app. To preserve school records, some account content is anonymized rather than permanently deleted when an account is closed.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
